The design of improvements to the South Street Seaport Museum included approximately 35,000 sq. ft. of the upper floors to house the new Museum of the History of the Port of New York Exhibit, as well as lower level renovations required to accomodate the new exhibition use.  The project also included a connecting passage through the lower level and a new circulation and service/mechanical area of 9,000 sq. ft.  Alterations to the low building were done to accommodate the new museum functions and main lobby escalator.
