The building was designated a landmark in 1979 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. When the restoration took place in 1992 it was part of a proposed extension to the Gramercy Park Historic District.

The restoration included complete new base building air conditioning, heating, electric service & distribution, sanitary & life safety systems.  The Gilbert design Gothic structure included a conference center, offices and a library/resource center for this non-profit organization.
