Dominick-DePinto

Dominick DePinto

Dominick DePinto is one of the founding Partners of Ambrosino, DePinto & Schmieder.  He brings over 35 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for buildings requiring close environmental control such as museums and laboratories while looking to incorporate sustainable design features.  He is an ASHRAE Certified COMMISSIONING PROCESS MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL. He has most recently led the firm’s effort to provide Technical Assistance to other engineers under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) New Building Energy Incentive Program. Mr. DePinto has been adapting many of the energy conserving techniques currently used in Northern Europe to the harsher climate of the North Eastern Coast of the United States.

A member of the original advisory committee that developed the first NY State Energy Conservation Construction Code, Mr. DePinto incorporated this knowledge and formed the firm’s in-house Sustainable Services Group.  This group provides specific assistance in sustainable design, outside of the standard MEP scope and works on both ads ENGINEERS design projects as well as independently to the other design teams.

As founding Partner Mr. DePinto set the firm’s standard for Quality Control.  A program he developed as a key element of the firm’s management approach.  Preparation of the firm’s Mechanical Design Manual, Master Specification and Standard Details, and in-house training program are other standards Mr. DePinto has developed.  He sees in-house training as an important step to bridging the gap between formal academic study and on-the-job experience. He strongly believes this will ultimately improve the quality of the engineering product as well as shorten the design time required.

In 2014, Mr. DePinto was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the New York Chapter of ASHRAE for a lifetime of achievement in the field of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Ventilation. He currently serves on New York City’s Energy Conservation Code Advisory Committee.

Articles by Mr. DePinto were published in major national HVAC magazines concerning building energy conservation.  He has appeared as a lecturer at seminars on conducting energy audits, and was an associate professor at the School of Architecture at Pratt Institute.
