GREEN
BUILDING MEP DESIGN
Green
Building
Design starts with choosing the right mechanical systems for the
building based
on the building type and the goals of the Owner. The
systems
then have to be designed with the
appropriate energy and water conserving features. Unfortunately
following
a simple checklist
and adding energy saving options to a system design doesn't guarantee
success. In fact, studies have shown
that as many as 35% of LEED-certified buildings actually use more
energy than
their conventional counterparts.
To
realize the full
potential of green building design requires an in-depth understanding
of how
the various energy-conserving features interact.
This interaction must be carefully detailed
and incorporated in the sequence of control for the building systems. ads
ENGINEERS, through
its
long-time involvement with energy audits of existing buildings,
understands how
critical it is to not only develop the proper sequence of control but
to make
sure that the contractor incorporates it into the building control
systems.
